Takeda Pharmaceutical Company operates a highly complex global supply chain spanning suppliers, contract manufacturers, logistics partners, and packaging providers across multiple regions. As in many pharmaceutical organisations, the majority of climate impact sits in Scope 3 emissions across the value chain. For large global companies, these emissions often represent 70–90% of total climate impact, making supplier engagement and supply chain coordination essential to achieving sustainability targets.
Net Positive Labs supported Takeda’s Global Distribution & Logistics leadership in strengthening the strategic coordination and management of initiatives aimed at addressing emissions across its global logistics network.
Working closely with the Global D&L Lead and country and category leaders, we helped structure visibility into supplier sustainability initiatives, market risks, performance indicators, financial data, and emissions-related metrics across key logistics categories including transportation, warehousing, and third-party logistics providers.
One of the core challenges was fragmented sustainability data and limited visibility across internal teams and regions. To address this, Net Positive Labs developed practical internal tools and data frameworks that consolidated information and enabled teams to track supplier engagement, monitor sustainability initiatives, and identify opportunities for emissions reduction.
These systems supported internal alignment and annual category reporting, helping the organisation move from fragmented sustainability initiatives toward a more structured, data-informed approach to managing Scope 3 emissions across its global distribution and logistics operations.
